Shasta Drowning Prevention Coalition Membership Information

The Shasta Drowning Prevention Coalition is a collection of local organizations and individuals committed to the prevention of unintentional drowning injury to Shasta County children.

Membership:

Organizations and individuals that are interested in the field of Water Safety and Injury Prevention are encouraged to become members of the Shasta Drowning Prevention Coalition.

Coalition Member Description:

Members of the Coalition will work together to identify local drowning injury prevention priorities, existing an potential resources and drowning prevention strategies based upon CDC drowning prevention best practices. The Coalition will support a combination of prevention strategies including community awareness, contributing and reviewing drowning incident data, collaboration on streamlining reporting methods, changes to agency policies and procedure to promote safe aquatic environments for all Shasta County residents and visitors

Specific Member Responsibilities:

  • Attend Coalition meetings.
  • Serve as a member of a planning group as needed.
  • Participate in media events and or activities as needed.
  • Help increase public awareness of the Coalition and promote its activities.
  • Supply information on drowning or near drowning incidents to establish baseline drowning injury data for Shasta County.
  • Strive to coordinate resources to achieve maximum impact.
  • Identify local drowning injury problems and prevention strategies to address them.
  • Develop a process of determining if prevention strategies work.
  • Attend at least 4 meeting per year.

Serving as a member of the Coalition will provide you with opportunities to:

  • Broaden you knowledge of Shasta County pools and waterways and preventable injury issues that are pertinent to our County
  • Gain new experiences and new information
  • Increase communication between agencies and individuals that are committed to Water Safety.
  • Work with other community members and water safety professionals
